Back from Albucrazy

Well we're officially back from Albuquerque. I love being back in my house, and of course, seeing my husband, but feel bad leaving my sister--- and especially that little cutie patootie niece of mine. I don't like that "empty arms" feeling one bit and now I have it again. But I also like doing things for my sister, it's not every day I get to make her meals for her and clean her house.

Jacob seems to enjoy being back-- he actually played with his toys! ;) He does miss his little friend Rico the dog though. (Pictured there on the left) Rico is basically my brother-in-law's dog. Scott loves this dog and good luck ever trying to talk him into taking the dog home with you. Jake and Rico get along pretty good though. While we were there, Jake would whistle for Rico all over the house. What really cracked us up was him whistling for Rico to follow him into the bathroom every time he had to go potty. Some mornings I would even open the bedroom door to find Rico and his ball laying in front of the door waiting for Jake to wake up and play. Maybe someday we'll find a good dog like Rico to come live at our house. My husband Kris has a rule about that though--- 2 cats = 1 dog. In other words, we already have two cats, so no dogs unless one of the cats goes. We hope to change his mind at some point. Ha!

Today was a perfect day for going outside- at least this morning was anyway. So Jake and I went out in the backyard and planted wildflowers. We were given wildflower seeds by the funeral home when Grant died so we thought it would be nice to make our own little memorial garden in the backyard. A good friend of ours mailed us the funeral programs from our friend Karen's memorial service last month. In it was a bookmark with a heart on top. Well, you tear the heart off and actually plant it- it has flower seeds in it! Too cool, I'd never seen that before! So we planted those too. I think Karen and Grant would love the little garden and I hope the flowers grow pretty in their memory.

My best friend has been sick for several months now with colon cancer. After much prayer and some chemo, she came through her surgery great two nights ago. Doctors say they got all the tumors out, but that she will still have to have another round of chemo. Please keep her in your prayers.

So all in all, it's been a pretty good week. I even got some work done for "Granting Hope" today. It is taking a little bit of time for me to get a list of resources together; and I still have yet to make a pretty little booklet out of it. Thankfully, I have some pretty crafty friends that will help me with that part of it.

Thank you all for your prayers for Carla and Joe. Carla emailed me today. She's doing as well as she can be doing under these circumstances. The memorial service for baby Jody will be this Saturday at noon. I am asking that you remember them and their family and friends in prayer especially this day as they celebrate their baby's life. There is a beautiful picture of baby Jody up on their site. http://www.carlajoe.vox.com/ It is too precious for words so you have to see for yourself. They have an incredible story.

I hope to be blogging a little more often now. It seems there is always a million things to get done, especially in working with our project. But I will try to keep you all as updated as I can. As always, thank you for reading our blog, whether you are reading it on blogger, or on Facebook, I appreciate all of you who take the time to read and leave comments. It means so much to us that although Grant is now in Heaven, there are still people who continue to follow us on our journey, and continue to pray for us. We covet your prayers daily. It has been eight months, but we still have difficult days. We are so grateful for the promise of Heaven- because without it there would be no way we could get through the death of our son. Promise and prayer have gotten us through this far so please continue! Love and thanks to you all!
