Remembrance Walk Today

We walk to remember the steps you've never taken; And all the memories that might have been. And we grieve the loss of you, O child of our dreams, and long to heal the ache that's deep within. We ask the Lord to lead us to trust and gratitude...And acknowledge that we'll never be apart. We'll treasure the gift and the grace of your life- for we'll always hold you in our hearts. by Tim & Julie Smith

We had a great turnout for today's annual Walk to Remember in spite of the blazing heat. Two of my friends that are in my stay at home mom's group came to walk with me. Thank you, Katie and Carey for your constant love and support! There was a lady and her husband and little girl also there who had lost their first baby girl in 2005. Andrea and Carlos and Gabby walked with us and Jake got to ride in their wagon with Gabby-I think he was thrilled that he didn't have to walk. =)

After our walk, a special memorial service was conducted in honor and memory of our babies. There was a time of sharing by parents who wanted to share their thoughts and poems about their babies. After this time was the Presentation of Rememberance- the coordinators read our child's names out loud from a card that we had filled out before the walk. Upon hearing our baby's name read, we were supposed to walk up front and take our card and a small gift they had prepared. What a wonderful time of remembrance, healing, and the realization that we are not alone in this.

I would like to express how grateful we are for those of you who said you would be remembering Grant today even though you could not make it to the walk. It means a lot to me. Thank you also for your continued prayers for our family, especially as we approach Grant's official due date- November 4- as well as during the upcoming holidays. God bless you!
