Celebration Time

I don't know about you, but it's been an INSANE couple of weeks here! Really, though, it's been that way since we got back from our California trip. First I had my nephews for a week (they are handful, but lots of fun); and then we had VBS for a week. I really enjoyed myself this year- I got put on kitchen duty. Between you and me, I think I put on about five more pounds that week! Ha!

The kids were great and we all had a ton of fun.

Our goal this year was to have 60 kids. I believe we had something like 58 or 59 last year. You can imagine how happy we were to see that goal met- we had 60+ on two nights this year! That just means that next year we have to work harder and maybe soon enough we'll see 100!

Now that VBS is over it's time to concentrate on all the birthdays this month. I've never seen this many birthdays in one month as we have in our family. So far, I think I'm behind by two.
We have my mother in law, my mother in law's mother, my sister in law, and my other sister in law, my niece, my nephew, and then myself! Not to mention two of my best girlfriends children, both have birthdays back to back (so we attended two birthday parties after VBS) and my girlfriend (neighbor) and another girlfriend I have in FL had a birthday too! I am behind every year- it's just too crazy! I have begun making my own cards and I have to tell you, I really enjoy that. Not only is it more cost effective, but it is also very relaxing...except for the month of June! =) And don't get me started on all the anniversaries- including my own! This is why I entitled this post, "Celebration Time". So tomorrow is my birthday, (well today if you live east of Arizona) Kris is out clanging around in the kitchen as we speak, trying his best to whip me up a birthday cake. Yes, we bake cakes at midnight around here. In fact, we do most everything at midnight around here- still haven't figured out how to get our sleep schedule back on track since we lost Grant. Of course, Kris's work schedule hasn't helped out a whole lot either. I've always been more of a night owl anyway...it's quiet at night, and I can get more things done it seems.

As Father's Day approaches, I am thinking a lot about my husband. I want to write about him, and I hope to have something ready by Saturday. I think at some point, he is going to get on here and share some of his heart. Until then, I'd like to share with you the man whose life I've shared for the last nine years- or ten, if you count when we started dating. For tonight though, I'm actually pretty tired and I think I will try to get some sleep. If I hurry, I might make it BEFORE midnight! More to come later! Good night, all!

  1. Jody, we love you guys bunches and pray for you often. Mother's Day just past, Father's Day approaching, these days are special and hard all at the same time for those who've lost a child. Know that we will say an extra special prayer for y'all, esp. Kris on Sunday.

Sometimes I open your blog and leave the music running in the background while I work on other things. So calming and inspirational.
